Scholarship

Sally had been very active when she was in high school. She was a cheerleader, played three varsity sports, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday school at her church on weekends. Her activities took time away from her studies, and she graduated with a "B" average. She sought scholarships from her 'first choice' colleges, but found that her "B" average was a hindrance. She eventually found a college that admitted her, and went on to become president of a chain of women's apparel stores. Despite her success, she never forgot that no one had helped her because she was a "B" student, despite her exemplary extra-curricular schedule. So she started a Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation especially for seniors who graduate with a "B" average. She started the fund with a donation of $100,000. The Foundation awarded four scholarships of $2500 each last year to very happy students.
